Kana is a Japanese-American violinist from the East Bay. She is the lead organizer for a rotating string ensemble called Collective Counterpoint and regularly hosts concerts that redefine the traditional concert experience. Her most recent event titled Summer at The Hidden Cafe was in collaboration with The Hidden Cafe and presented free outdoor concerts featuring musicians of diverse genres including a string ensemble.

Her most recent projects include the Kakehashi Project, which featured a taiko concerto titled Heartbeats commissioned for Erika Oba and Koh Yamakawa that was premiered in May 2026.

She recently joined the North State Symphony (Chico, Redding, Red Bluff) as a section violinist. She has previously played with Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, and Vallejo Symphony as a substitute violinist. Other performance experiences include Brevard Music Festival, National Orchestra Institute and Festival, Mendocino Music Festival, Prague Summer Nights, and Bear Valley Music Festival.

As an educator, she previously worked with Harmony Project Long Beach between 2022-2023. She has returned to teach at Oakland Music Matter’s Harmony Project and East Bay Center for the Performing Arts as a Teaching Artist.

She holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and minor in Japanese Language and Culture from CSU Long Beach and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Cincinnati. She studied under the tutelage of Moni Simeonov and Timothy Lees.
