
Kana is a Japanese-American violinist from the East Bay. She is the lead organizer for a rotating string ensemble called Collective Counterpoint and regularly hosts concerts that redefine the traditional concert experience. Her most recent event titled Summer at The Hidden Cafe was in collaboration with The Hidden Cafe and presented free outdoor concerts featuring musicians of diverse genres including a string ensemble.
Her upcoming projects include the Kakehashi Project, which will feature a taiko concerto that will be premiered in May 2026.
She recently joined the North State Symphony (Chico, Redding, Red Bluff) as a section violinist. She has previously played with Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra and Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera as a substitute. Other performance experiences include Brevard Music Festival, National Orchestra Institute and Festival, and Mendocino Music Festival.
As an educator, she previously worked with Harmony Project Long Beach between 2022-2023. She has returned to teach at Harmony Project Bay Area as a Graduate Intern at Oakland Public and Charter Schools.
She holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and minor in Japanese Language and Culture from CSU Long Beach and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Cincinnati. She studied under the tutelage of Moni Simeonov and Timothy Lees.
